Check Out Some Songs Carrie Underwood Recorded When She Was 14!

To contact us Click HERE

CARRIE UNDERWOOD fans probably know about this . . . but I didn't. Way before "American Idol" . . . when she was around 13 or 14 . . . Carrie had a budding music career. She recorded a bunch of songs and almost signed a Nashville record deal. The whole thing fizzled out and she went back to Oklahoma to finish high school and, eventually, college. Anyway, there is an entire album of songs from back then.  It's called "Broken Wings" . . . and it's all cover songs from artists like the Dixie Chicks, Martina McBride and Jo Dee Messina. It's for sale on a website called SoundsBox.com, and it'll cost you $1.76.  No joke.  If that's too rich for your blood, individual songs are 14-cents apiece.  Or if you're super cheap, you can listen to samples for free! :)

Nashville Man Kicked Out of Kenny Chesney Concert for Looking Like Kenny Chesney!

A Nashville man was kicked out of Kenny Chesney's Saturday-night concert in Music City for looking too much like Kenny Chesney. Nathan Blankenship was dressed similar to Chesney -- wearing a sleeveless shirt and straw cowboy hat -- and he told reports that people sometimes say he looks like the country star.  Blankenship says, "I can't help the way I look."

Security at the concert venue, LP Field, claims Blankenship was causing a disturbance among fans who thought they were seeing Chesney in the audience.  Security personnel escorted Blankenship out of the stadium as a result.

He says, "I think the way they handled it made it seem worse, like they were really escorting Kenny Chesney through the crowd." It seems Nathan Blankenship has been through this kind of thing before, though.  An official at LP Field says Metro Nashville police knew about Blankenship looking like Chesney before the concert began.  Apparently, country stars at previous Nashville concerts have spotted Blankenship in the crowd and thought he was causing a similar disturbance. Blankenship is also upset about having to give up his $200 concert ticket to the show.  Kenny Chesney's camp released a statement Monday saying they didn't know about Blankenship getting kicked out of the concert until it was reported in the media. Concert promoter Kate McMahon of The Messina Group says they are reaching out to Blankenship to make the situation right.

GARY ALLAN admits that his last two albums were pretty heavy, mostly because that's just where his head was. But his next one will have a more positive tone. He tells "Billboard", quote, "It's super rock, super up. "It seems like a lot of the stuff I was writing this year was just up and hopeful stuff. I'm usually the sad writer, but I think I was able to step away from that this time. "(But) I'm just in a really good place, mentally, and this just reflects that. Every album I do is just about where I'm at, at the time." Gary says the new album is almost done . . . but there's no word when it will be out.

Last week, John Gross of Indianapolis, Indiana was leaving Orlando, Florida with his late grandfather's ashes.  The ashes were in a sealed jar that was marked "Human Remains." At the Orlando airport, a TSA agent was searching his bag, and John asked her to be careful. She wasn't. She opened the jar . . . then accidentally spilled John's grandfather's ashes on the floor. He says, quote, "She didn't apologize. She started laughing. I was on my hands and knees picking up bone fragments. I couldn't pick it all up. I mean, there was a long line behind me." He's asking for an apology from the TSA. The TSA website says crematory containers have to pass an X-ray . . . but they shouldn't be opened under any circumstances.  A spokesman says they're investigating the incident.

Obama to use teleprompter for Hindi speech

So let's see if anyone can help me figure this out.
If GWB was an idiot and he could do speeches without a teleprompter, what does that make Obama?
Honestly?
Is this a matter of national security?
Maybe not, but in a way it is if the leader of the free world does not have the confidence or brain power to memorize a speech...or at worst have some "cheat sheets"
I know Bush had a binder with him that he paged through, but it seemed like he only glanced at it.
Doesn't that make his just a little smarte on atleast some level?

Italy Entry: Nina Zilli - L'Amore è Femmina (Out Of Love)

To contact us Click HERE
Nina Zilli, real name Maria Fraschetta, has got my 2nd spot on my top 7, please remember the order of my top 7 is in order of which they placed in the Eurovision Song Contest. Nina Zilli performed for Italy, and managed to come 9th, which is a great position to get. She reminds me a lot of the late Amy Winehouse, she not only looks like her, but she sounds quite like her too. And this is definitely the sort of song I could see Amy singing. Nina Zilli is a great singer, she has already made a name for herself in Italy getting some pretty high charting positions, but can she do as well in the rest of Europe? There's no sign of her charting this Sunday on the UK chart, but that doesn't mean she won't. At the end of the day, I think she should have a crack of it, I'm sure the UK will bring her in, and I can see her doing pretty well elsewhere as well. I wish Nina Zilli the best of luck.

The song was originally written by Christian Rabb, Kristoffer Sjökvist, Frida Molander and Charlie Mason. They wrote the song in English, however Nina Zilli then translated it into Italian for her album. Then when she released it for the Eurovision, she decided to sing it in both English and Italian. I love it when you watch singers on the Eurovision who has sung a song in 2 or more different languages, they make it seem effortless, but then again, it probably is when you are fluent in those languages, it's only difficult when you aren't.

This music video isn't too bad, but it's not great either, it's another pure performance piece with artistic choreography, and an extremely catchy tune. It kind of reminds me of the old jazz/pop music videos where the singer didn't do much and the dancers had quite a lot of choreography. It also reminds me of the classic musicals where the main character is lifted and moved, with not much choreography. This links in well with the sort of song this is.

It was definitely more entertaining than the Eurovision performance, however the latter was more interesting as it portrayed the song, perfectly. This is lacking somewhat, I have watched this video 4 times already, hoping I'd come up with something more to write about , but there isn't a lot going on.

I like how they've made Nina Zilli stand out, one scene she has ginger hair, that makes her noticable and makes her that little bit more interesting, and then those dancers are in bright coloured shirts with a white overcoat, that emphasises Nina Zilli, they also make her quite sexy too.

Overall a great, upbeat song and a not bad music video to go with it. What would have made this video much better would be making Nina Zilli do some more complicated choreography, maybe include a narrative, maybe make it look on the old side to go with this song. Although, this music video works pretty well, I have to give this rating, I wish I could give more.

Spain Entry: Pastora Soler - Quédate Conmigo

To contact us Click HERE
Another power ballad on my top 7, however it was definitely the year for ballads, so quite surprised that a lot of them managed to get a high position. However they do show off what amazing voices these artists have, and that's why so many people like ballads, including myself.

Pastora Soler, real name Pilar Luque, is quite a big hit in Spain, she has had some high charting albums, including a number one which was "Fuente de Luna" back in 1999. She has recently been getting chart topping albums in Spain, and now she's trying to hit out internationally, and how else to do it, than using Eurovision to help. She has an amazing voice that I could listen to for hours, I hope she does great elsewhere too.

"Quédate Conmigo" was written by Thomas G:Son (who's a big Eurovision song writer), Tony Sánchez-Ohlsson and Erik Bernholm. In English it means "Stay With Me", and you can kind of feel that kind of emotion come off from her as she sings this song; it's like she is feeling every single word of this song, and sending it to us. The fact that it is in Spanish makes it that bit more surprising, especially since you can feel the words of the song even if you don't know what they mean. This just proves that she is a great singer. She managed to come 10th in this years Eurovision, which is really good for Spain. The UK gave 8 points to Pastora Soler, which shows how big a hit this song was over here, however no sign of the song entering the UK chart this Sunday... If it was down to the song, this would definitely get the five stars it clearly deserves.

However, it's down to the music video, which is disappointing. I admit, that it is difficult to make a ballad music video look good and interesting, but people still manage to do it. But in this case it's pretty boring, with very little going on to keep the audience interested. I'd probably pass on watching this on the music channels, and attempt to find something better on another channel.

It's mainly performance based, but also includes two dancers that didn't appear in Baku, Azerbaijan, or maybe the UK took them instead... These dancers are the highlights of this music video, however there is a repeated sequence footage, which is quite annoying, although to make up for it, everything is in slow motion making it go along with the song, which is perfect. I wonder if that water at the end was warm... And how many takes they had to do.

As for Pastora Soler, she's a magnificent singer, but she isn't even doing anything except singing, and although various shots are used, there is nothing stunning about the performance. I was just expecting something, but there wasn't anything.

Overall, a quite catchy song, and I think everyone understands why I like it. But I'm not impressed with this music video, I was pretty bored with it to be honest. Whilst trying to focus on it, I ended up looking at the YouTube comments and the other videos on the right, instead of watching the video. There's just nothing to this music video, apart from the song.

Romania Entry: Mandinga - Zaleilah

To contact us Click HERE
Mandinga represented Romania in Baku, Azerbaijan in 2012. The band has been around since 2002 but in 2006 they split and reformed with a new front singer. Unfortunately there is a rule with Eurovision saying that only 6 people can be on stage during an act's performance, so someone had to stay backstage. The 7 band members are: Elena Ionescu, Alex, Chupi, Zach (Valle), El Nino, Omar Secada and Tony. Been searching for hours for last names so if anyone can find them out for me with sources I'll be very grateful... So Romanian music has hit big here in the UK, with the likes of Inna (who was nearly the Eurovision act to come from Romania), and Alexandra Stan, will this band follow in their footsteps?

"Zaleilah" was written by Consti Ioniţǎ, Elena Ionescu and Omar Secada. Zaleilah is the dance they perform in the music video, and the verses is about Elena and her love interest, which is sung in Spanish. The fact that the band helped to write the song, is what makes it so much more interesting, as they believe what they are singing and would have performed it to the best of their ability. I like how it's a two-language song, and having English for its chorus and the bridge, makes it that little bit special. This is definitely my favourite song, and if it were down to me, the UK would have given this 12 points, but no matter how many times I voted for this band, the UK didn't award any points at all, which was quite disappointing. Romania came 12th in the Eurovision, but clearly deserved to be in the top 10. Funnily enough, in 2009 Elena Gheorghe represented Romania. Elena is an ex-member of Mandinga. She only managed to get to number 19th, whereas Mandinga got 12th, and 31 points more than what Elena did...

This music video is full of everything, there is a narrative with that purple ring, there are performance pieces, there is choreography, and even more there is scenes that doesn't relate, but fits well with the verses of the song. Usually this is what makes a good music video, but is it too much information? Is there too much going on for one person to handle?

Let's start off with the performance piece, I love how there is bagpipes from the start, and that they are performing on a stage. I also like the fact that each member of the band is included, and although focus is on Elena Ionescu, the other band members do get scenes. And how can you not love the choreography? It's easy to follow, and I can't stop doing the Zaleilah whenever it come on.

The narrative is a little different, you follow the ring, but it's not as clear to see what the storyline is. Clearly it is a special ring, that flashes due to light, but what does it do? We find that out at the end, but I don't think we know enough about it to be perfectly honest. And the sexy scenes of Elena, made me think it was Inna when I first saw it on the music channels, as it's sort of a typical Inna music video scene. I love how they are transported to Baku, Azerbaijan with the ring, it's quite clever.

Overall a great song that I can't get enough of, but it's accompanying music video is better than most Eurovision music videos, I just don't know how you can refuse to do the Zaleilah, as it's quite easy to do. I wish Mandinga the best of luck, in the future. They should be a hit in the UK, but it doesn't look like this song is going to chart, which is unfortunate. I hope they return to the UK, and give it one big shot.

Cyprus Entry: Ivi Adamou - La La Love

To contact us Click HERE
Ivi Adamou is only 18 and was born in 1993 (the same year I was born), this shocked me, she looks like she's in he mid-twenties, so if she's just 18 and can sing like that, I'm in awe of her. She looks a lot like Anne Hathaway. I really hope she does well all across Europe, especially in the UK, I would love to hear more songs by her. She took part in The X Factor (Greece) and came 6th. She then entered the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Baku, Azerbaijan, where she came a disappointing 16th, she should've definitely placed higher. The UK didn't award any points to this song, although I did vote for her. After keeping an eye on the UK iTunes top 100 chart, it looked like this might chart on Sunday, but who knows, we'll have to wait and see.

The song was written by Alex Papaconstantinou (who has written a number of songs, including 3 songs for Eurovision), Björn Djupström, Alexandra Zakka and Viktor Svensson. Cyprus chose Ivi through internal selection, but she offered 3 songs and it was a mix of jury votes and public votes on which song would go through. It has already charted in a few places, and I hope Ivi Adamou appear on our screens more frequently, this song should've been a hit at Eurovision and a hit throughout Europe, and it is making it's mark. I just hope this isn't the last we see of Ivi Adamou.

I love this music video, this is clearly the best one from all the Eurovision acts, as far as I'm aware of, however there could be better ones that I haven't seen yet. It links in perfectly with the song, and it's both a narrative and performance piece, that you can't help but love. Everyone should be aware of the storyline, but in case you can't quite identify it or you have a memory loss, it's Snow White.

In Snow White, love is what prevails, and that is all she is waiting for, while she is asleep. And that is exactly what wakes her up, her Prince Charming comes along and kisses her. Again this is a bit of an adaption, as most Snow White stories are, hence the fact that there are two Snow White films that have recently been released.

I like how this one doesn't have dwarfs. But what are these people? Fairies? Angels? I'm not sure, but I think they are much better than Dwarfs hence the fact that Snow White is nice and kind, that is why she's dressed in white, along with the Fairies. Also I'm sure I've seen Prince Charming somewhere before, is he a well-known actor or something?

Overall this is a perfect music video, with quite a horrifying witch, that is very scary, but in a good-humour way. I like so much about this music video, and I haven't got a bad thing to say about it. The song is amazingly catchy too, and I'm sure it's going to be stuck in my head all day. So here's the worthy stars!

Ireland Entry: Jedward - Waterline

Jedward, Jedward, Jedward. You all knew this one was on it's way. I am definitely a fan of them (but secretly). They have appeared on my blog many times before, and here's yet another one. They were on The X Factor (UK), and came sixth. This was their second time performing for Ireland on Eurovision, they performed "Lipstick" in the Eurovision 2011, and they came eighth with that song. This song has charted in a few countries, but will it chart in the UK? We gave them 10 points, although I think we should've given them more. This was definitely a typical Eurovision song, and it failed to meet expectations, and I was surprised.

"Waterline" was written by Nick Jarl and Sharon Vaughn. It is the first time an act from Ireland has represented them at Eurovision. This song is a progression from "Lipstick", I also think it sounds like they've grown up, going for a more mature sound, and trying to reach out to more people than just kids. Unfortunately they only received 46 points and came 19th overall. Proving that it's all down to the song and the way it's sung and it's not a political contest as everyone is shouting and raving about.

This music video isn't exactly the best. I kind of dislike these sort of videos, they're more a mix up of clips that aren't quite edited well together. On the other hand they have done it nicely allowing kids to copy the dancing amongst various other things. But is this it, is there anything interesting about this?

I'm not sure, but I can already see this being a short review. It's definitely more of a performance piece, there's some footage from them singing live in the national selection for Ireland, and then some bits are from them performing in front of a green screen. And then there's shots of fans and them going on television. But that's it, and this is really lacking something. Also you aren't quite sure when it will be cut into a different scene, and it's quite hard to follow.

Having said that the song is very catchy and the music video is a little on the disappointing side, however they do cartwheels one handed, I can't do that! They are great entertainers, I remember seeing them on tour when I went to see the X Factor Tour and they flew over the top of us, doing flips in the air. I can't fault them on their entertainment, and that water feature during the contest in Baku, Azerbaijan was amazing. But this definitely will not be the last we hear of them.

Every once in a while, I miss my Giga Pet.

Yes, like most nineties children, I had a Giga Pet. No, not a Tamagotchi, a Giga Pet. It was my love, my light, and one of my first "real" responsibilities. Hey, it was tough work watching after a pet - and I had two of them! I had a wicked purple Giga Pet that hosted both a dog and cat. Don't tell anyone, but as a dog lover, there were plenty of times I let my cat die and only paid attention to my puppy. I was crazy about it! I feel like the only way to understand my addiction and well, all 90s kids' addictions to this fad is to think about today's teens and their cellphones. My pets were literally attached to my hip and I was always clicking away at it. I even proposed to my mom that I would pay her 50 cents a day if she took care of my pets while I was at school!
I loved my pets, but I grew older and my interest swayed to other things. But every once in a while, I do miss my Giga Pet. Times were simpler, and us kids? We were so easy to please.
What was your favorite toy as a kid? While I loved my Giga Pet, I also loved the original Polly Pockets, Barbie, and Pogs! (But more on those later...)

Music Monday: Your first shuffle song?

When you put your music player on shuffle, what is the first song to play? I was happily surprised when "Iris" by the Goo Goo Dolls started playing when I answered this question. Usually, my shuffle on my iPod can be a little embarrassing, but I think this is a song that almost everyone knows and loves. Who didn't love this song back in the day, and who doesn't like the Goo Goo Dolls?

If you know anything about me, youknow that I take things to heart. So when I find out you are still sittingaround the metaphorical (and literal) campfire talking about me like old times,I have to shake my head and groan.
Really? I realize that your life is uninteresting, and youdon’t have much going for you. Sure, you got your dream job, but in the grandscheme of things, does it mean anything? What it means to you is that you getto have an air of arrogance, but you had that before. In all honesty, you’rejust the same old fool, but this time, dressed a little nicer.
Cue my laughter because Igot away from that situation; I bolted at the sight of a change for my life. Irealized that if I got away from your malodorous personality (and body) I couldbe happy. Maybe the drama would stop if I left. Sure, I would leave you withlittle to talk about, but I’m sure you’d find something else to talk about.
I was wrong.
In the big, wide spectrum of the big, wide world, you reallyare small and insignificant.
And yet, I’ve always been the one to take things personally. It’s one thing to laugh among friends at the expense of another. It’s fine anddandy with me if you’d like to spend your time reveling in my life. I’ve warnedyou before that my life is incredibly boring. And yet you are still intrigued;you hear a snippet of my life, and somehow turn that rough stone of a rumorinto a polished gem. I must admit: you’re good at it. But is that something tobe proud of?
I wish you the best in your endeavors, especially the onesinvolving my life. The valley between the two of us is widening; it will behard for you to hear much about me now. But who knows, maybe you’ll become agrand storyteller and be able to take care of the lull in your life. Or maybeyou’ll grow up, wise up and move on.
I’m sorry for whatever I did to make me “the chosen one.” Iwasn’t asking for this, you know, when I was busy living my life and you werebusy watching and taking analytical notes. But I’m going to keep doing what I’mdoing because I’m good at it and I’m happy with it. Feel free to criticize, ortake note, but kindly keep it to yourself. You’ll be much better off that way.Maybe you should spend a little time working on yourself instead of trying totear down everyone else.
All the best,Jessi

Music Monday: Rock of Ages ROCKED

I ran out to see Rock of Ages this weekend and I must say, I can't wait to do so again. This movie is for anyone who truly loves music, especially power ballads. Love musicals? Here's a refreshing new one for you. With songs from 80s greats like Def Leppard, Poison, and Journey, this old school girl was in movie heaven. Fun performances by Russell Brand, Alec Baldwin, Tom Cruise and others made this movie shine. It was fun, lighthearted, and I couldn't help but rock out! Dancing was a must, so thank goodness there were only two other people in the audience! I'm disappointed in the low box office numbers for its opening weekend, because this movie is definitely a winner. I even got "dolled up" so to speak - after teasing my hair and laying on the eye makeup and big earrings, I was definitely in the rock star mood.
The music was great! I loved the original numbers, and hearing the mash-ups of some of my favorite oldies but goodies completely blew my mind. I was even more excited when I found that a sing-a-long version of the album has been released -- just the instrumentals so you can be the rock star! And believe it or not, Tom Cruise rocking out as a legend to "Wanted Dead or Alive" was just plain awesome.
I left the theater so pumped (at 2 AM, mind you) that I couldn't let the fun stop. I felt downright inspired. I put in a hair metal mix CD in the car and proceeded to let the old school excitement pump through my veins...and my speakers. If you were an 80s kid, or just feel like you should have been, this movie is for you. I know I'm going to be rocking out to this soundtrack for a while.

How rock music changed my life

At the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum
Rock music: you either love it or hate it. Me? I was raised on the stuff; hearing Aerosmith, Kiss and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers as a kid, I was bound to grow up loving it. I still have fuzzy but fond memories of sitting in the backseat of my mom’s car, handing her Meat Loaf’s “Bat Out of Hell” cassette for the millionth time. I loved the music, even though that big bat on the front of the plastic case scared me. As a kid, one of my favorite songs to sing along to was Heart’s “Magic Man.” I was hooked, and sure to be a rock child.

When it came time to buy my first album though, it was 1998, and I picked Britney Spears’ first CD. From there it was Backstreet Boys, Spice Girls and NSYNC…but I still loved when my family would play the classics…classic rock. Years went by and I remember sitting outside with my father in middle school.  I remember striking up a conversation that went a little like this: “Ya know, I don’t like pop music as much as I thought I did. I only want to listen to the old stuff now. I mean, I’ll still listen to like, Jason Mraz cause I love him, but not the other stuff. It’s just not that good.” That day, I handed my “Now That’s What I Call Music” CDs down to my little sister, and later started collecting rock band t-shirts. I had officially jumped ship from what other kids my age were doing. It was like rebelling, and it felt cool.

My first day of high school I wore a Kiss t-shirt. I remember feeling like I was going to reinvent myself that freshman year; after all, it was the perfect time to do it, right? I wore jeans and black high top shoes. At any time, you could look in my closet and see a sea of black shirts.

I was always “tuned in” to the classics. Headphones would be in and I’d be singing along to Pat Benatar or Joan Jett. Heck, I wanted to be Pat Benatar or Joan Jett. I still do. And when I was alone, or I didn’t want to hang out with friends who were doing stupid things, I had my music. I could listen to it; I could write about it, I could burn hundreds of mix CDs. Strange and ironic as it may seem, I think my love of rock music helped keep me on the straight and narrow as a teen. I was already so used to not doing what everyone else was doing, why should I care what they think about me at all?

Rock music inspired me. It still does to this day. Whether it’s a guitar riff, drum solo or powerful lyrics, I’m moved. I want to write, draw, dance…I just want to create something. Power ballads make me want to scream at the top of my lungs; power ballads also make me want to fall in love…hard. When I got my first car, I thought I had it made. I could cruise downtown and with the windows rolled down, blast the classics. I could jam to Foreigner or Def Leppard in the middle of the day or the middle of the night and just feel alive.

Rock music makes me feel more alive than anything else. And until you experience that for yourself, you won’t understand half of it. For me, it means feeling happy, happy in its purest form. It doesn’t matter what happened that day or what’s going down around me, if I have my rock music, I feel better. I feel more like myself. And when I’m singing along at the top of my lungs, I feel complete. As silly as it may sound, it really is the best medicine. Plus, it just sounds like home. When I’m listening to it, I AM home.

Rock music changed my life for the better, and it continues to do so everyday. Sure, a catchy new pop song here and there is fun, but I will always come crawling back to classic rock. This great music will always be there for you to fall back on, solid as a rock.

GOP Voters Like Three Candidates Best for 2012

To contact us Click HERE

The latest Rasmussen Poll states: Asked who they would vote for if the Republican presidential primary were held today, 20% say Romney, 19% Huckabee and another 19% Palin.

Again, I am going to say this is a very big mistake.  If the GOP nominates wishy-washy conservatives (read Romney and Huckabee) or someone that too many people see unfavorably (read Palin) then we will have 4 more years of Obama.

The GOP needs to nominate someone more along the lines of the candidates that won this time around.  True, principled conservatives that are not insane (read O'Donnell and Angle).

Right now I believe the BEST choice is conservative Paul Ryan from WI.  He is EXACTLY the right candidate for the times.  He is very fiscally Conservative.  He is not afraid to offer actual plans instead of just use talking points.

The other big time candidate might be Marco Rubio.  It might be too soon for him, but he doesn't need a teleprompter to speak, he seems conservative, looks good, and can peel away some of the Hispanic vote.

Do not let history repeat itself.  Every time the GOP nominates a moderate they lose big (read Dole and McCain).

Who would you like to see in '12.  You understand the campaign will start ramping up in about 2 months...

With GWB back, it makes me think about all the things that "outraged" liberals just two years ago

To contact us Click HERE

So liberals, answer a few things for me...
You were soooo "mad" at Bush for his spending, where is the outrage now?

You were soooo "mad" about Gitmo, but now it is okay?

You wanted an end to the wars, what happened to the stories in the paper on a daily basis on soldier deaths?

Answer is that most of you really could care less about any of those things.  It was just a way for you to attack Bush..
If I am wrong answer why these things do not matter anymore
