Friday Flicks: Spider-Man was nothing less than amazing

I finally saw The Amazing Spider-Man on Wednesday, and without being too much of a geek, it was nothing short of amazing. As Spidey's #1 fan, I may be a little biased, but take anyone to this movie and they will enjoy it in their own way. Why?
The actors. Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield were the perfect Gwen and Peter Parker. Their charisma carried this entire movie. Classic stars Sally Field and Martin Sheen are brilliant, but you already knew that, didn't you?
The story. Sure, we get the classic coming-of-age tale of a young superhero, trying out a new "skin." But we also "feel" what he's feeling much more than we did with Tobey Maguire's series. And although I've always loved Mary Jane, seeing Gwen Stacy in the spotlight was refreshing. This whole new spin was a breath of fresh air for comic book movie fans (especially Spidey fans) the whole world over.
The villain. Notice how I said villain, not villains? I'd rather have one villain per movie (even if it's not the Green Goblin) over a whole bunch of stories colliding into each other for two hours. (Spider-Man 3, anyone?) Plus, this guy is insanely crazy (in an awesome way.)
The action. Spidey seems to be flying higher than ever before. The city skyline and swinging action were astounding, even though I did not see it in 3D. This is a superb movie in that it's simply a feast for the eyes when it comes to colors and sights.
On top of it all, it's Spider-Man. And who doesn't love Spider-Man? There is a reason that he is the greatest superhero of them all...
Did you see The Amazing Spider-Man? What did you think?
